Nazok, [ˈnɑː.zok] is an artmaker based in Vienna who explores themes of sexual identity, growth cycle in nature, and the interplay between traditional and contemporary artisan techniques.
Their work spans a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, waste material, bio textiles, and cloth and structure design.
With a background in Fine Arts combined with his personal curiosity about diverse practices, Naz’s work has been featured in Vienna Design Week, Ö1's "Fixing the Future" and the UNICEF Drawing Awards.
Currently, Naz’s practice focuses on creating textiles from bio-materials, merging this approach with traditional carpet-making techniques and symbols. Uncovering and reinterpreting the symbolic meanings embedded in carpets.
By integrating these traditional symbols into contemporary contexts, Naz seeks to bridge the gap between the past and the present by weaving the future.
